Data Management and Visualization for Utah County Aquifer Projects

Team #8:  Water Connect
Sponsor: Barr Engineering
Mentor: Dr. Jones
Team Members: Kyle Cannon, Matheus Leite, Dallin Smith

Barr is a leader in the field of groundwater management solutions. Recent projects in Utah County include development of aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) systems. ASR is a method where excess water from spring runoff is injected into subsurface aquifers and then pumped out at a later time when it is needed. Several projects are currently underway with Provo City. Candidate sites for infiltration and direct injection sites are being evaluated. One of the challenges of the projects is data management. The team will assist Barr in forming innovative solutions for data management and visualization. Data includes borehole logs, and transient water level measurements for monitoring wells and water quality. The objective is to be able to visualize the data through an interactive website.
