Title: CEEN-2020CPST-003: TRAX Signal Timing
Project Sponsor: Utah Transit Authority
Project Description: UTA has been operating light rail in downtown SLC since 1999. The system initially opened up with one line operating on a 15 minute headway. In 2001 UTA added the line from Downtown to the University of Utah. In 2011 UTA opened the Red and Green. In 2011 the Red Line was connected to the Mid Jordan Line rather that the Central station in downtown SLC. Building on previous modeling work the students will develop a new operations model for the segment of light rail that operates from 1300 South to 300 South in downtown SLC and from Main Street to 200 East. The students will develop an optimal signal timing plan for all system users. It is recommended that the students use VISSIM or other simulation model.
