Title: CEEN-2020CPST-004: Knighton Bypass Flow Measurement

Project Sponsor: Central Utah Water Conservancy District

Project Description: The Knight Diversion Dam diverts water from the Duchesne River into Starvation Reservoir. The pool upstream of the dam frequently fills with sediment. A bypass structure and pipeline were recently constructed that permits sluicing of the pool to reduce sediment buildup. No provisions were made for flow measurement of the bypass line. The bypass line is a 48 -inch RCP line with an upstream slide gate. A manual method of calculation has been developed based on the percent open of the slide gate. An electronic method of flow measurement with data logging and SCADA interface is desired to better monitor flow around the dam.
