Title: CEEN-2020CPST-015: BYU Sewer Analysis
Project Sponsor: JUB Engineering
Project Description: This project is the creation of a model of the existing BYU sanitary sewer system and analysis of the performance of the sewer system. The project will involve gathering land use data and converting it to flow data; building a model of portions of the sewer system that have potential of reaching capacity using mostly existing data; gathering additional field information as needed to verify questionable data or obtain missing data; obtain measurements from existing meter data and calibrate the model; evaluate which locations within the system may be most likely to be approaching capacity; evaluate how flows may vary during the atypical periods inherent to a university campus; and communicate results graphically using GIS. This project may require use of surveying and will require hydraulics, gravity flow modeling and GIS. It will involve the judgement required of engineers to predict conditions based on a sampling of data.
