The objective of this capstone project is to determine the tensile strength of rigging connection that is used to move mass timber panels. Two types of panels will be examined, nail laminated timber (NLT) panels and dowel laminated timber panels, and two types of connectors will be examined, transport anchor connectors and Yoke 5T connectors. The sponsor will provide the specimens materials including the connector hardware. The student team will need to build up the DLT and NLT specimens and design the test apparatus as a part of the project. The main deliverable is a research report that describes the test objective, the test methodology including the buildup of the specimens, the test results, a summary of results and areas for future research, and references.
