Orem-Saratoga Pipeline

CUWCD has developed a model of our CWP water transmission system. This water system uses both treated surface water from a treatment plant and groundwater from deep wells. This model has not been calibrated. We also anticipate that additional pump bowls will be required on several existing well pumps to increase discharge head as water demands increase. This project will use extensive SCADA data to calibrate the hydraulic model. Once a calibrated model is in place, demand forecasts will be used to determine when the existing pumps will need additional pump bowls to meet the required head. It would also be helpful to determine pump operating scenarios to maximize the use of treated surface water. The necessary engineering specialties include hydraulics and water system modeling. The desired outcome is a calibrated hydraulic model of our water transmission system, including pipelines, pumps, storage tanks, pressure relief valves, and other similar features. A second outcome would be a report that details when additional pump bowls are required as well as how to optimize the use of treated surface water in our system.
