Testing Cross Laminated Timber
Team #13: ADW Engineering
Sponsor: Euclid Timber Frames
Mentor: Dr. Judd
Team Members: Decker Ure, Wyatt Payne, Alex Winward
The objective of this project is to test cross laminated timber (CLT) shear wall specimens under static lateral load. The shear walls will consist of interlocking CLT (iCLT). The test setup will restrain the base of the shear wall and prevent out of plane movement, and a hydraulic actuator will be used to apply a lateral load at the top of the wall. The specimen and setup will be instrumented with string potentiometers to measure displacement, and the actuator will measure load and displacement. The sponsor is to provide 3-4 specimens, and the student team will design and construct the test setup, conduct the static lateral load tests, reduce the test data, and prepare a report that describes the test campaign.
